Wikia - creating communities

Dear WikiLot.com users,

As you may be aware, WikiLot recently closed down. Wikia is stepping in to rescue the content that you and your communities have created at WikiLot over the past year.

Wikia was not and is not affiliated with WikiLot. After WikiLot closed down, we bought the expired domain wikilot.com and are working with the previous owner to secure the content so that we can offer a new home to the wikis that were hosted there. We are currently collecting copies of the databases of WikiLot's wikis. If you would like to re-open your wiki, please contact Angela (angela@wikia.com).

Wikia provides a free and open source environment for communities to launch and develop wiki projects. We currently host over 8500 wikis, including many of the largest including WoWWiki, the World of Warcraft wiki and Wookieepedia, The Star Wars Encyclopedia.

Like WikiLot and Wikipedia, we use MediaWiki software, so you won't need to make any changes to your wiki if you choose to relaunch it at Wikia. You can explore the site by browsing the hubs or reading more about us. If there's anything else you'd like to know about Wikia, feel free to ask!
